Replacement Parts and Installation

SPINNER PLATE

• Removal: The spinner plate is attached to the motor shaft and sits directly under the feeder funnel. To remove the spinner plate, place your fingers under BOTH sides of the plate and pull up toward the feeder funnel. The spinner plate should pull free of the motor shaft.
  
  
• Replacement: The spinner plate has a "D" shaped hole in the bottom that aligns with a "D" shape on the motor shaft. Align the "D" shapes on the shaft and hole, and then press down on BOTH sides of the spinner plate. The motor shaft should press into the hole. Make sure the spinner plate is on straight to avoid vibration.

FEEDER FUNNEL

• Removal: The feeder funnel is secured to the main enclosure with four 8-32 bolts and four 8-32 hex nuts. The slotted bolt heads are inside the enclosure, and the hex nuts are inside the four feeder funnel legs. Use a right angle straight blade screwdriver to hold the bolt heads inside the enclosure, and use a hex socket or nut driver to loosen and remove the hex nuts inside the four funnel legs.
  
  
• Replacement: Align the four holes in the top of the enclosure with the four holes in the bottom of the feeder funnel legs. Insert the 8-23 bolts up and through from the inside of the enclosure, then into the holes in the bottom of the feeder funnel legs. Assemble and tighten the four 8-32 hex nuts onto the 8-32 bolts using a right angle straight blade screwdriver to hold the bolts, and a hex socket or nut driver to tighten the four hex nuts.

MOTOR

• Removal: First, remove the SPINNER PLATE as described above. This will expose two small screws that secure the motor to the enclosure. Use a small cross recess (Phillips) screwdriver to carefully remove these two screws. Unsolder the motor from the red and black wires that connect it to the control board.
  
  
• Replacement: Solder the red wire from the control board to the terminal closest to the red dot on the motor, and then solder the black wire to the remaining terminal. Insert the motor through the hole in the top of the enclosure aligning the screw holes, then secure it using the two screws you previously removed. Caution: Do not overtighten and strip the screws!

PROGRAMMABLE TIMER

• Removal: Remove the SPINNER PLATE as described above. This will expose two Allen head screws that secure the timer bracket to the enclosure. Use an Allen wrench to remove these two screws. Unplug the programmable timer from the control board, but note how it was plugged into the control board for future reference.
  
  
• Replacement: Plug the programmable timer into the control board the SAME way you removed it above. If there is a good "N" cell battery on the control board, the timer display should come on. If not, replace the "N" cell battery at this time. Secure the timer bracket to the enclosure using the two Allen screws you previously removed. Replace the spinner plate as described above. Re-set time, day, and programmed feed times.

CONTROL BOARD

• Removal: First, remove the SPINNER PLATE, and MOTOR as described above. If you have a programmable timer, also remove it at this time. Next, turn the enclosure upside down, then drill out the two rivets that secure the control board to the enclosure. Generally a sharp ¼ inch drill works well for this task. Caution: Be very careful not to drill through the enclosure. Remove and discard the rivets, but save the two small white plastic spacers. Unsolder wires as required, but NOTE WHERE EACH WIRE WAS CONNECTED.
  
  
• Replacement: Solder the red and black wires to the motor and/or battery clips in the same order and positions as they were removed. Secure the circuit board to the enclosure using two new aluminum rivets and the two plastic spacers you saved during removal. A standard 1/8-inch rivet gun is required to secure the two "pop" rivets from the outside of the enclosure. Note: It may be necessary to align the photosensor on the control board with the sensor hole on the side of the enclosure for Dusk/Dawn models only. Replace the motor, (timer on programmable models), then the spinner plate as described above.
