Typical Feeder Installation

The following drawing illustrates a typical feeder installation using three trees to suspend the feeder. The suggested distances of approximately 25 feet between trees and 8 feet of ground clearance have proven to yield the best results. Other installation practices however can prove as effective.

Squirrels, raccoons, and bears will eat almost anything making your feeder a buffet ready to be eaten. Squirrels will chew on anything including your feeder and feed container. Raccoons can open latches and covers. Bears have the strength to knock down even extra strength tripods holding up you feeder. Use a metal feed container whenever possible and keep the feeder at least 8 feet away from anything that can be climbed. If black bears are in your area, we recommend that you mount your feeder to a cable that is attached between two trees at least 25 feet apart. Use a separate cable to keep the bottom of the feeder a minimum of 8 feet off of the ground.
