Feed Types
All types of small dry seeds or feed pellets can be used in Spinpro Wildlife Feeders as long as they are
no more than 5/16 inch in diameter. Larger feeds will not properly flow through the feed funnel.
Three of the more common types are pictured on this page including corn; seed mixes, and processed feed pellets.
CORN: Whole corn is probably the number one feed chosen for several reasons. It is generally inexpensive, will
not rot and stick in the feeder if kept dry, and is liked by most wildlife including deer and turkey. Rabbits
and squirrels soon become regular visitors. Geese and ducks frequently visit a corn filled feeder placed next
to a body of water Cracked corn is sometimes used for a variety of birds, but it does not keep as well in the
feeder and on the ground as whole corn. Corn covered with molasses should not be used since it does not flow
well through the feed funnel and often sticks together in clumps.
SEED MIXES: Many seed mixes can be used for turkey, pheasants, partridge and songbirds. Some users feed
chickens and ducks with various seed mixes sold at feed stores. Deer and turkey will eat most seed mixes,
but you will have better luck using whole corn if this is what you are trying to attract.
PROCESSED FEED PELLETS: Processed feed (rabbit) pellets come in many forms but they are generally cylindrical
in shape and between 1/4 and 7/16 inch long. As long as they are kept dry, most can be used in Spinpro feeders.
Even if water does not get into the top of your feeder, condensation inside the feed container can cause this feed
type to glob together and give you a big mess if it is not keep completely dry.
